Comparisons to Similar Arcs
- This arc includes the baseball game scene from Tatarigoroshi and introduces Yukikazu Kameda.
- Some content from the Connecting Fragments section of Matsuribayashi is included, such as Satoko established as having to take medicine injections daily.
- Some scenes parallel the Tsumihoroboshi TIPS with Rika talking to herself or to an unknown entity.
- The ending of the arc with Satoko finding Rena's hat is similar to the ending of Taraimawashi from Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Matsuri. This was apparently intentional.[2]

Ryukishi07: "In the second season of the anime, a new episode called Yakusamashi-hen will be added before Minagoroshi-hen. If you know the original, you probably already know, but Minagoroshi-hen, which is one of the big scenarios in the second phase of the anime, is very important. Therefore, we decided to set up a new episode Yakusamashi-hen and enjoy the world view more deeply."
