Umineko no Naku Koro ni Murasaki: Forgery of the Purple Logic (うみねこのなく頃に紫: Forgery of the Purple logic, lit. When Seagulls Cry Purple: Forgery of the Purple logic) is a manga-exclusive extra arc of Umineko no Naku Koro ni written by Ryukishi07, illustrated by Kurumi Suzuhiro, serialized in Comp-Ace magazine, and published by Kadokawa. Noticeably, it is the only spin-off to share the When They Cry 4 subtitle with Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru, whether intentional or not.
Forgery of the Purple Logic has not been officially translated yet nor has it been licensed for release outside Japan.

Plot Summary

Beatrice starts another game against Battler Ushiromiya, focused entirely on the whodunnit; no magic or fantasy scenes are involved. She creates a detective character, Erika Furudo, to serve as the main character of this new game. This game also centers around the use of Purple Statements. Characters who are not culprits are telling the truth when they speak in purple, but culprits (those who have killed or will kill someone) may lie when they use purple.
Contest
On the final page of Volume 2, three questions are presented for the readers to answer. Readers were able to send their solutions to Kadokawa, with a contest held to determine who had the correct solution. Afterwards, the true solution was supposed to be published on the Comp-Ace website, however this never happened. One user on Twitter asked Ryukishi about it and he was told it would be published on the homepage and to contact Kadokawa for more info.[1] Another user in the comment section of Volume 2's page on Kadokawa's website claimed that they contacted Kadokawa themselves but was told that there was nobody working there who knew what the solution was.[2]
