However, Ange has no desire to inherit that role, leaving the Group on the brink of fracturing internally and putting Okonogi in a difficult position.
He was once the president of a foodstuffs distribution company and had an intimate relationship with Hideyoshi's business.
Because of that long-lasting association, Eva trusted him particularly, and he was appointed to an important post within the Group.
Okonogi has dark green hair tied into a ponytail and wears gold earrings. He wears an entirely red suit and pants with a yellow tie and black shoes.
Okonogi tends to see things from a more compassionate view when compared to Ange.
Okonogi runs a company, Okonogi Foods, that has had business with the Ushiromiya Family, including Hideyoshi's company.
- Eva Ushiromiya (business partner)
- Kasumi Sumadera (ally)
- Ange Ushiromiya (ally)
- Juuza Amakusa (hired bodyguard)
Role in the Story
The president of Okonogi Foods who looked after George Ushiromiya is mentioned when Eva's family visits Rokkenjima privately at one point before the 1986 family conference. It is unclear if the person in question is Tetsurou Okonogi.
In 1998, he's responsible for telling Ange that her hatred of Eva prevents her from fully understanding what happened on Rokkenjima, because "without love, the truth cannot be seen." He allows Ange to escape as Kasumi Sumadera attempts to capture her and arranges for Juuza Amakusa to act as her bodyguard.
Okonogi doesn't physically appear, however in the Tea Party, he calls Amakusa and orders him to assassinate Kasumi.
In the Magic Ending, Okonogi assumes full control of the Ushiromiya Group after Ange passes it on to him.
Some of these notes concern Okonogi's connection to Higurashi When They Cry.
Shinsou Kaimei Dokuhon Episode 8, page 18
June 10, 2011. "A guest appearance from Higurashi. It’s merely the same actor performing this role, but otherwise, has no connection to the story whatsoever (If you may think there’s a connection, that’s OK too). I think the ambiguity of whether he’s your enemy or your ally is really cool. He doesn’t have many appearances, however he makes for quite a curious character who was able to leave a strong impression."
