Taraimawashi-hen (盥回し編, lit. Tub Revolving Chapter) is an extra arc from Higurashi When They Cry. It was first included in Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Matsuri and was written by Koshiko Miyagi[1] and supervised by Kiichi Kanou. It acts as a bad ending for when the player does not make choices that would lead them to Onikakushi, Watanagashi, or Tatarigoroshi.
Plot Summary
- Main article: Taraimawashi/Plot Summary
Ever since arriving in Hinamizawa, Keiichi's been having a great time with his friends. Suddenly, Kuraudo Ooishi introduces himself. He's interrogating people about a murder that took place on the day of the Watanagashi Festival, but Keiichi's friends are all uncooperative. On the contrary, it seems like they're all hiding something...
Keiichi kept his mouth shut, feeling intimidated by Rena and Mion. He notices someone staring at him coldly: the underclassman, Rika Furude.

Trivia
- "Taraimawashi" (盥回し) is a Japanese idiom referring to "handing off a problem to someone else in order to evade responsibility"; similar to the English expression "passing the buck".[2] This reflects the purpose of the arc as a bad end earned by avoiding pursuing the main story.
