Tamaki's First Love

Tamaki's First Love (魄姫の初恋 Tamaki no Hatsukoi) is an extra chapter included in Irotoutoshi-hen Volume 4.

Summary[]

Rika goes to visit Keitarou working at Smile Shop and asks to hear about a boy Tamaki likes. Keitarou says the boy is from Polaris, causing Rika to spit out her drink in horror. Rika imagines an outcome of Tamaki being obsessed with the boy like Shion was in the past and developing both Hinamizawa Syndrome and Polaris Syndrome, leading her to cause a murder-suicide incident. Not wanting to see this outcome happen, Rika starts spying on Tamaki at school, imitating Hanyuu. During lunch with Sakiko and Kihiro, Tamaki shows no unusual behavior and doesn't try to contact the boy, which confuses Rika. The teacher Torano catches Rika spying and scolds her, and Tamaki bails her out since they're acquaintances.

Tamaki asks Rika why she's here, to which she responds she wants to see the boy she likes. Tamaki gets excited and says the boy is named Sakuya, a Polaris boy who helped defend the other members when Inori's father barged into the settlement. Tamaki fell for him after seeing how courageous he was. She had heard that her uncle Satoshi was like him in the past and wondered if this could be fate. Rika asks if she's having any contact with Sakuya at all, and Tamaki replies that it would be wrong for her to open up contact. She needs to be a model future head of the Sonozaki family, and since it's important to respect each other's personal space, getting close to him on a personal whim would be unreasonable. Rika is surprised at how responsible Tamaki is by suppressing her own feelings to be a proper Sonozaki family member, and realizes her worries were unfounded.

Tamaki says Rika must've had her own experiences of liking someone and not being able to get involved with them. Moved, Rika pats her head and suggests talking to Sakuya through another Polaris kid. Tamaki thinks Kururu could talk to him. Soon, Tamaki learns through Kururu that Sakuya already likes someone, but takes the disappointment well. Rika walks home Tamaki and the other kids when they see Sakuya smiling and hanging out with another girl. Tamaki herself smiles and tells Rika that seeing the person you like happy gives you a warm feeling. Rika assures her as Oyashiro-sama's priestess that she'll find a wonderful partner someday since Tamaki is already wonderful.
