Takumi has light hair and wears a white t-shirt. He does not have sprites in the visual novel version.
Takumi is very abusive towards Yae and frequently throws things or beats her, usually apologizing after getting a hold of himself.
The console version shows that Takumi and Yae fell in love during their college years. Takumi was a guitarist at a band he had put together and he often performed at concerts. Yae first became acquainted with him after he invited her to his concert and they started dating shortly after. Unlike Yae, Takumi was always chasing his dreams, even after graduation. Even when most of the other band members had given up on their pursuit of making it big in the music industry and chose stable jobs, Takumi still held on to his hopes and continued to write music after moving in with Yae. This made his girlfriend's life hard, since she had to pay all their expenses and drowned her hopes of leading a normal domestic life with Takumi.
Soon, faced with failure after failure at his attempts in securing a music career, Takumi was overcome with bitterness and stayed mostly at home watching TV or drinking beer and completely stopped composing music. After a while, Takumi started to abuse Yae whenever they ended up arguing, which made Yae feel trapped in their relationship.
Takumi is first seen in the prologue and agrees to go with Yae to visit Hinamizawa. It rains when they get there, and they take refuge in the Furude Shrine meeting hall. After getting drunk and throwing a can when Yae won't drink with him, Takumi goes to sleep and wakes up after Otobe's group enters and leaves the meeting hall. Takumi and Yae pack up to go home however Yae becomes horrified to see their car missing. A figure is then seen creeping up behind Takumi.
Shortly after, Otobe's group see Yae standing near the gate to the shrine and cowering in fear, who says that something kidnapped Takumi. They return to the meeting hall where Otobe discovers Takumi's corpse inside of a closet. Mion eventually deduces that Yae was the one who killed him, as they only ever saw Takumi sleeping while Yae is the only one to have ever heard him talking. Yae confesses that she did kill him. She had invited Takumi to Hinamizawa with the intent to kill him and did it long before meeting with everyone else.
Despite Yae's confession Ryuunosuke doesn't believe her, and Mion calls Takumi's ghost to explain things. Takumi wanted to apologize and fix their relationship, believing that this Hinamizawa trip would be his chance. Yae is in denial and Takumi proves that he really was trying to better himself when Mion pulls a job acceptance letter out of his pocket. Takumi's ghost disappears soon after, and after everyone else leaves Yae stays behind with his corpse to think things through. She ultimately decides to turn herself in to the police.
