Umineko no Naku Koro ni: Stage of the Golden Witch (うみねこのなく頃に～Stage of the golden Witch～ When the Seagulls Cry: Stage of the Golden Witch) is a series of stage plays produced by Shingidan and adapting Umineko When They Cry.
Production and Release[]
The Episode 1 stage play was first announced on November 29, 2021.[1] On January 8, 2022, Shingidan tweeted out the name of the play[2] and the cast list.[3][4]
Cast photos for the 18 main characters were gradually revealed on Shingidan's Twitter. On February 11, 2022, three additional cast members playing the part of dancers were revealed.[5]
On March 9, 2022, it was announced that the play's opening theme would be Katayoku no Tori, the same as the Umineko anime.[6]
After the initial theater performances, on April 3, 2022, it was revealed that Sayaka Ohara, voice of Beatrice in the anime and console versions, reprised her role for the play.[7]
On May 5, 2023, it was announced that an adaptation of Episode 2 was in the works. It was confirmed that the stage play would be performed starting from September 7. [8]
On May 15, 2023, it was announced that that on June 24, 2023, a special event titled Ep 2 EVE would occur. [9] On May 18, 2023, it was announced that they would perform the Episode 1 Tea Party during this event.[10] It was also revealed that the actors playing Maria Ushiromiya and George Ushiromiya had been recast. [11]
On June 24, 2023, it was revealed via Shingidan's website that additional actors had been recast.[12]
A key visual for the Episode 2 stage play was released on July 21, 2023.[13]
On September 7, 2023 it was announced that an adaptation of Episode 3 would be performed in February 2024. An event called Ep 3 EVE will also take place on December 9, 2023.[14]
On December 9, 2023, during the Ep 3 EVE performance, the actresses of Bern and Lambda were unveiled. Then it was announced that the adaptation of Ep 3 would be performed from February 22 to 25, 2024. The cast list has also been announced.
The Episode 4 stage play would be performed starting September 5, 2024[15], and the Episode 4 EVE will take place on July 27, 2024[16].
Episode 4 is divided into two parts: -End me.- and -UNtruth-[17]. Both parts are performed on the same day.
On September 9, 2024, it was announced that an adaptation of Episode 5 would be performed from February 20 to 24, 2025. An event called Ep 5 EVE will also take place on January 13, 2025.[18]
During the performance of episode 4, from September 5 to September 9, 2024, the CD Umineko no Naku Koro ni Stage of the golden Witch -Memorial sound collection from EP1〜EP4- containing a selection of music used for the stage play is sold. The CD is then available for pre-order online from September 14, 2024[19], for release on September 24, 2024.

- In the Episode 2 stage play, Shannon and George wear different casual outfits while going out on the date at the aquarium.
- In the Episode 2 stage play, the outfit Jessica wore during her school festival performance was different for each day the play was performed. Most of these outfits were Higurashi When They Cry club members.
