Sekai Saionji (西園寺 世界 Saionji Sekai) is a character appearing in Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Mei in the School Days collaboration event Years of Infidelity.
Background[]
In Sekai's world, the Great Hinamizawa Disaster occurred, leaving Hinamizawa and Okinomiya as ghost towns. Kotonoha, Sekai, and Setsuna Kiyoura are later transported to the Hinamizawa of 1983. A TV drama seemingly depicting the events of School Days exists in the Hinamizawa of 1983.

Role in the Story[]
Years of Infidelity[]
Sekai and Setsuna are on a school trip when Sekai breaks off claiming to have a date with Makoto, and arrives at Okinomiya Station. Setsuna goes to bring her back and meets the club and tells them of her situation. They go to the junkyard where they find Sekai injured and Kotonoha standing over her. Kotonoha disappears, and the group tends to Sekai.
The group then goes to the school to find Kotonoha influencing Rena and Mion to fall madly in love with Keiichi to the point of trying to kill him. They destroy a black card that was influencing Kotonoha herself, and everyone goes back to normal. Tamurahime no Mikoto meanwhile confirms that Makoto actually isn't in Hinamizawa, and that it will be a while before Sekai, Kotonoha, and Setsuna can return to their world.
"Earnest Love" Kotonoha Katsura[]
In the meantime, Sekai and Setsuna live at the Sonozaki Main House temporarily. While hanging out with the club, Kotonoha explains that in her world, Kotonoha started dating Makoto after being introduced by Sekai, but then Makoto asked Sekai for dating tips and began dating her instead. Kotonoha had attempted to kill Sekai in the junkyard earlier, wanting to do anything to get back with Makoto.
"Overflowing Desires" Sekai Saionji[]
Sekai is called to the Hinamizawa Branch School by Kazuho to retrieve something she forgot, only for Kazuho to reveal that Sekai lied about her reasons for coming to Hinamizawa. It's revealed that in their original world, Sekai planned with other students to break apart Makoto and Kotonoha, but after she was found out, Sekai tried pleading Makoto to come back to her but to no avail. Sekai then met Miyabi Saionji, who called her a "bearer of the Saionji name" and was given a black card with which to realize her dreams, and so caused Kotonoha to go crazy.
Sekai wants to give back the black card so long as she can return to her world, but Kazuho refuses to let her return with the powers she's gained. They fight, and Sekai's card shatters as she forgets all of her memories related to it.
"Secret Feelings" Setsuna Kiyoura[]
Setsuna returns to her original world only to find that in this one, Sekai killed Makoto and was stabbed by Kotonoha, and was taken to the hospital. In despair, Setsuna wishes for a chance to prevent it all from happening and suddenly is sent to months before the incident, where Sekai asks her to go to summer camp with her.
