Seiji Kimiyoshi (公由 清治 Kimiyoshi Seiji) is one of the main protagonists of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Oni.

Role in the Story[]
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Oni[]
In 1923, a young Seiji plays tag with Ryou, Souhei, and Ritsuka at Furude Shrine. Ryou loses and is made to enter the shrine's ritual storehouse at night alone, but Seiji and the others join her anyway. Inside the storehouse, they discover a picture scroll behind the Oyashiro-sama statue talking about "demon descending".(Higurashi Oni Chapter 1)
15 years later in 1938, the adult Seiji meets Souhei when he returns to Hinamizawa. Ritsuka joins them and they go to meet Oryou, and Souhei notices that some villagers dislike Seiji hanging out with Ritsuka. The group attends the Watanagashi Festival that night and drink sake together afterwards. In private, Souhei asks Seiji what girl he prefers and notices he may be in love with Ritsuka. Seiji meekly he'd be a poor fit for a daughter of the Three Families when their discussion is cut short by a drunk Ritsuka being hyperactive. After the festivities, Souhei asks his friends to join him at his house tomorrow, wanting to know everything that happened since in Hinamizawa since he left.(Higurashi Oni Chapter 2)
The group gathers the next day. Souhei asks if anything happened that night they all snuck into the storehouse 15 years ago and explains that his parents were killed that night by a "demon".(Higurashi Oni Chapter 3) Oryou says her parents were also killed and that her brother Yuuki was taken away by demons, but Souhei expresses disbelief in the existence of demons. He asserts that humans were really responsible, and when Ritsuka tries to calm him down, Seiji ominously says Ritsuka's family was pardoned because she's a Furude. Seiji realizes what he's said and goes outside to cool his head. In the meantime, Oryou and Ritsuka explain that that night, Seiji's mother Chiyoko was said to have been walking around the village with a bloody sword towards Onigafuchi Swamp. Many villagers claimed she was cursed by Oyashiro-sama and killed Souhei and Oryou's parents. Seiji decided it would be best if he he were ostracized from everyone, explaining why Souhei saw all the villagers looking at him coldly.
A month later, Souhei decides to barge in on a Three Families meeting, wanting to know what really happened 15 years ago and to vouch for Seiji. He notices that Seiji isn't attending the meeting. Okai reveals she recently learned about the ritual storehouse trespassing that night and believes Oyashiro-sama cursed Seiji and the rest 15 years ago. Meanwhile, Seiji prepares to enter the ritual storehouse.(Higurashi Oni Chapter 4)
