Summary

This chapter presents an alternate reality where Battler does not come to Rokkenjima, the Golden Witch does not exist, and the mystery child from nineteen years ago becomes the heir of the Ushiromiya family. This story is told through the perspective of two new characters: Willard H. Wright, who uncovers several truths behind the legend of the Golden Witch including Beatrice's true identity; and Lion Ushiromiya, whose existence holds the source of everything presented thus far. While no deaths occur in the game itself, the Tea Party features a scenario showing how the murders may have played out from a non-magical standpoint.

Prologue[]

Summary
Meta-layer (Chapel) Virgilia opens with a eulogy, waxing poetic about dreams and how Beatrice's final, beautiful dream will not disappear for all eternity.
Unknown Mansion Some Inquisitors from the SSVD corner a maid and declare her guilty of murder. The maid pleads innocence and would never kill the Master, but the Inquisitors won't hear it. The lead Inquisitor says whydunnits are insufficient in mysteries, and only the whodunnit and howdunnit are important.
Meta-layer (Chapel) Virgilia finishes her eulogy and steps away from a coffin surrounded with roses. BATTLER walks up and solemnly places a book inside of the coffin to be held by Beatrice. This book was a game record that contained a dream for Beatrice, and only she would be able to read it. This is a truth between BATTLER and Beatrice that nobody can defile.
Unknown Town A man dashes through a town and thinks about mysteries. It's true that whodunnits and howdunnits are important to the mystery genre, but that doesn't mean one can neglect the motive, the heart.
Meta-layer (Chapel) BATTLER and Virgilia prepare to leave, but BATTLER steals one last look at the coffin and prepares to say something. He instead gives a wry smile and leaves the chapel, Virgilia following behind. Nobody is left to disturb Beatrice's blissful sleep.
Unknown Mansion The maid keeps trying to vouch for her innocence, and the lead Inquisitor pulls out a warrant for her arrest signed by the Great Court. The SSVD aides are ordered to arrest the maid, and the man appears to stop them, saying they have the wrong culprit. The lead Inquisitor says this case is no longer his responsibility, but he refuses to accept theories that neglect the heart. The Inquisitor ignores his arguments and demands that the maid be arrested, but the man invokes Van Dine #11: a servant cannot be the culprit. Having confirmed this in red, he asks that the Inquisitors double-check other witnesses' alibis. The Inquisitors reluctantly agree and the maid thanks the man for his help, revealing that this man is no other than Willard H. Wright, aka Wizard-Hunting Wright, Head Inquisitor of the SSVD.

Trivia[]

  • The joke about "the 495-year-old witch" and And Then There Were None is likely a reference to Flandre Scarlet from the Touhou Project and her theme U.N. Owen Was Her?.
