Hello, I'm Ryukishi07.
As those of you who have been reading Higurashi WHEN THEY CRY from the beginning probably know, the hidden main character of these stories is Rika Furude. Rika Furude is special—she commands a view of the entire story—and therefore, she is an important character whose position is most similar to that of all of you readers.
However, when writing the series, I wanted to make it so you weren't aware of her importance until very late in the story. I was faced with a predicament because I didn't want her to stand out too much until then. As a result, in the opening story, Keiichi, Rena, and Mion all run around having fun while Rika-chan just stands behind them, beaming, and she ends up fading into the background.
On the other hand, because of that, when she occasionally comes out and does or says something mysterious, the impression she leaves is that much deeper.
I suppose that when someone who is usually quiet finally mutters something, it holds that much more meaning.
I think that there are some people who act quiet and aloof at school because they want to be that type of character, but those people don't communicate enough. That type of behavior will lead to a repetition of the mistakes in the "Abducted by Demons Arc." Rika is most certainly not a "quiet" character. She plays and laughs with everyone, and then when the situation calls for it, she says something very significant.
As for myself, my intent is to usually say things that are silly and pointless, and then occasionally say something really cool, but no one takes it seriously. Hmm, so if your conduct isn't right, then it doesn't matter when you say something good (sweat).
Volume Two is finally out! The worst type a world tame up again, and now Rika and the others have started their fight to save Satoko. Without weapons. It's a Higurashi first! They've all done some growing through all the tragedies of the past.
I want to do my best so that I can draw Rika-chan as she continues to grow with the help of her friends.
♥Special x2 Thanks ♥
