Kotonoha Katsura (桂 言葉 Katsura Kotonoha) is a character appearing in Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Mei in the School Days collaboration event Years of Infidelity.
Background[]
In Kotonoha's world, the Great Hinamizawa Disaster occurred, leaving Hinamizawa and Okinomiya as ghost towns. Kotonoha, Sekai, and Setsuna Kiyoura are later transported to the Hinamizawa of 1983. A TV drama seemingly depicting the events of School Days exists in the Hinamizawa of 1983.

Role in the Story[]
Years of Infidelity[]
Kotonoha is seen in the junkyard having attacked Sekai, but disappears before the club can do anything to her. At the Hinamizawa Branch School, it's later shown that she was infected by a black card and claims that anybody would do anything for love; she influences Rena and Mion to fall madly in love with Keiichi, to the point of trying to kill him. Kazuho, Miyuki, and Nao destroy Kotonoha's black card and bring her back to her senses.
"Earnest Love" Kotonoha Katsura[]
Kotonoha has no memory from when she was possessed by the black card. She is examined by Irie at the clinic, but he finds nothing wrong with her. Kotnoha explains to the club that in her original world, she was called by Makoto to come to Okinomiya Station and wound up in Hinamizawa. During dinner, Kotonoha explains the relationship she has with Sekai, Setsuna, and Makoto, and her struggles with her feelings. Kotonoha started dating Makoto after being introduced by Sekai, but when Kotonoha didn't want to get intimate with him because of her past, Makoto asked Sekai for dating tips and soon began dating her instead. Kotnoha struggled with her feelings about the event, and Nao says she can resolve things if she just conveys them.
Kotonoha actually does remember meeting Sekai in the junkyard and attempting to kill her, and doesn't want to give up on Makoto even if it hurts Sekai and Setsuna. Kotonoha eventually returns to her original world retaining the memory of these events, wondering if her dark thoughts will come out again.
"Overflowing Desires" Sekai Saionji[]
It's revealed that in their original world, Sekai planned with other students to break apart Makoto and Kotonoha, but after she was found out, Sekai tried pleading Makoto to come back to her but to no avail. Sekai then met Miyabi Saionji and was given a black card with which to realize her dreams, and so caused Kotonoha to go crazy.
