Execute Operation!! (作戦決行!! Sakusen Kekkou!!) is the third chapter of Kokoroiyashi-hen.
Summary[]
As Satoko and Rika pack during the night, Satoko wonders what Tokyo will be like. Rika tells her to pack light since they need to get away from the adults and cross the mountains. Satoko begrudgingly agrees and dumps out a bunch of trap materials. As Hanyuu watches them with a smile, Rika asks why she's making a weird face. Hanyuu says she's just worried about Keiichi and the others since they have actual parents to worry about. Rika thinks about how Hanyuu's face was just like long ago, when Hanyuu told her that her expectations will just bring her pain. Rika wonders if going on this trip may be an exaggeration, but doesn't know how to word it.
At home, Keiichi manages to sneak all the way to his front door. His parents were still awake since they had more work to do for the event. Keiichi tries to open the door silently, and when he does Rena suddenly appears and drags him outside. Keiichi's parents hear the commotion but soon forget about it.
Rena says she came to pick up Keiichi and got tired of waiting. Keiichi asks if they should've made Mion's house the meeting point, but Rena says it's dangerous for boys to be talking around alone at night. Keiichi says the opposite is true for girls, and Rena is pleased that he's treating her like a girl. Keiichi asks how she got away from her dad, and Rena says she gave him a few drinks of sake and knocked him out since he can't hold his liquor well.
The group meets up at Mion's place, where Shion dresses up like her twin and wears a kimono, and practices acting like her. Shion says she only needs to deceive Oryou for one night, and Mion promises to swap with her at Angel Mort some other time. The group then goes to the secret passage in the underground ritual storehouse, as it's the only way to escape Hinamizawa. Keiichi remembers they tried to use it the day of the Watanagashi Festival during the Mountain Dogs' attack, and wonders if it's still usable. Mion says she and Shion used to explore down there when they were kids and warns everyone to watch their step.
As the group walks through the tunnel, Rika tells a ghost story of how she can see spirits, and says a bunch of ghost hands came out of the tunnel. Everyone including Hanyuu gets frightened and runs down the tunnel. They finally reach the exit but see it's covered by overgrown roots, which Rena chops away using her hatchet.
The group ends up in the middle of the woods, with Mion having no idea where to go next. Keiichi decides to start walking, and before Mion can warn him, he gets caught up in a trap. The group realizes they're in Satoko's trap mountain.
