Irotoutoshi-hen Final Chapter (最終話 Saishuu-wa) is the eighteenth and final chapter of Irotoutoshi-hen, and the final chapter of the Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei manga overall.
Summary[]
In Shinjuku Ward in Tokyo, Marutake bumps into some thugs on the street and intimidates them into leaving him alone. He laments that his Hinamizawa blackmail plan failed, and all the info he has is worthless no matter who he goes to. Not sure of what to do next, Marutake relaxes by going to a club titled BBKB: Baby Kink Bondage. Marutake enjoys himself wearing a diaper and acting like a baby while being tied up as a dominatrix degrades him. The dom reveals herself to be Rika in disguise as Keiichi enters the room. Marutake is shocked to see him and asks how he got here. Rika says he always carries the BBKB business card with him and decries him messing with Hinamizawa. Marutake realizes Rika is also on Keiichi's side and tries to escape, but fails because of his bondage.
Marutake thinks Keiichi is secretly recording him and planning to use it as blackmail to make him leave Hinamizawa alone. However, Keiichi makes an impassioned speech assuring him he won't interfere with his hobbies and praises him for indulging himself in an appropriate place and price, and that people who expose the secrets of others deserve to be denounced. Marutake understands he's saying it's wrong for an outsider like him to expose Hinamizawa and Polaris's disputes to the world. Keiichi asks Marutake to reform and to show respect to Hinamizawa and Polaris. Rika listens and thinks this all sounds like a fever dream. She knows this can only end well if Marutake willingly backs down, and doesn't know if Keiichi's speeches or torture will work on him. Marutake thinks about Keiichi's position as a congressional secretary and possible future connections, and demands to have 5 million yen in exchange for leaving Hinamizawa alone. Keiichi refuses, and shouts that he wants to have a soul pact vowing mutual respect. Marutake responds that he won't do anything unless money is involved, and Keiichi says he believes in his soul. At his cue, Rena, Mion, and Satoko enter the room also wearing dominatrix gear. They perform their services on Marutake, and after being thoroughly whipped, he agrees to the soul pact.
Back in Hinamizawa, Rika relaxes with a drink in her home. Keitarou texts her and asks how she's feeling. He says that after the festival, the club talked to everyone in school about how to interact with Polaris kids, saying not to overdo things and to not help them too much unless they ask. Keitarou also assured the Polaris kids that they can count on im for anything. Keitarou also founded a new club that plays games online, and the Hinamizawa and Polaris kids play together on it after school. He recounts a heated game with Inori that showcased her aggressive play style, and that she seemed to enjoy it. Meanwhile, Sakiko got into cosplaying and is talking with Kururu about making an outfit. Tamaki found a boy that she likes. Kururu also doesn't bother the club as much, and spending quiet time with Inori apparently fits her original nature. Keitarou notes that by being less clingy, the group is able to act more like normal friends. The Polaris kids also seem more understood; the other day, Inori greeted Keitarou and the club after school rather than be driven home, saying she wants to ride the bus and feel more like a member of Hinamizawa. Keitarou talks about how interested he was in the Polaris Festival, while Kururu showed interest in the Watanagashi Festival. Keitarou looks forward to what this time will be like next year, and asks Rika to do club activities with them next time.
Rika finishes reading Keitarou's messages and smiles. She narrates that the Hinamizawa scenery looks familiar but is slowly reforming, and in the Reiwa Era may be reborn into a completely new village. She's saddened that Hinamizawa will lose some of its old traditions but is happy that new ones are being made, and looks forward to the new era and village the kids will create.
One day, Keiichi shows to his friends a certificate signifying that he's officially moved back to Hinamizawa. The adults and kids celebrate with games and club activities, and a cookout headed by Kisaku. Inori and Kururu meanwhile enjoy themselves in the Polaris settlement. Hinamizawa and Polaris citizens also begin interacting with each other. At Smile Shop, Keitarou hangs out with his friends and shares a happy with Inori as she and her mother pass by.
