Irotoutoshi-hen Chapter 16 (第16話 Dai Jyuu-roku Wa) is the sixteenth chapter of Irotoutoshi-hen.
Summary[]
While working at Smile Shop, Keitarou and friends see Inori's father's car loudly driving off and wonder why they would need directions to the Polaris settlement. At the settlement, Polaris members are having their festival. Kururu enjoys the cookies made by Inori and her mother when Inori's father interrupts the festival and loudly calls for his wife and daughter to come back. Inori and her mother panic as they remember being abused by him in the past. Kururu takes them to hide in a house. Inori's father starts harassing Polaris members to bring his family out. Canopus tries to make him go away and pulls out a voice recorder, but gets punched to the ground. The remaining Polaris members cower in fear at Inori's father and his lackeys. The Holy Mother hears the commotion and begins heading out to investigate.
Inori's mother thinks the people of Hinamizawa are trying to drive Polaris away, but Inori assures her they wouldn't do that. As her father calls out for her, Inori wonders if she can fix everything by going out and enduring it. Her mother prepares to go out and leave her, but Inori remembers Keitarou's words that putting up with things won't resolve anything, and tells her mother to stay, as it's okay to run from unwanted bonds. Inori and her mother embrace as they worry about how to stop her father's rampage when Keitarou and his friends arrive. Keitarou's group tells Inori's father to leave since the people of Hinamizawa and Polaris like to be quiet, much to the surprise of the Polaris members. Sakiko realizes the location of the settlement got leaked thanks to her actions, and so she can't look away. A Polaris kid is worried about the girls and tells them to get away, but Tamaki assures him they'll be fine. Inori's father scoffs at the outsiders getting in the way of his family problems, but Kihiro warns his group to leave before it's too late.
Inori's father still won't move, and soon Rena arrives with a crowd of Hinamizawans. The villagers say they heard from Keiichi about Polaris and apologize for their past treatment. Teppei is annoyed at how Inori's father's group reminds him of his past self. The Hinamizawans announce they'll fight back if anyone opposes them, with Shion arriving and calling it the Hinamizawan spirit. Rena and Shion pull out a cleaver and stun gun respectively, horrifying Inori's father, and tell him that Hinamizawa and Polaris are in the process of getting along, and won't forgive anyone making trouble for them. Shion suggests he'll change his mind after he hears about the curse of Oyashiro-sama, and asks which ritual storehouse he'd like to go to.
Inori's father and his lackeys reluctantly get back into their car and drive away. Satoshi praises Shion for not having to use her stun gun. The Holy Mother comes out and thanks the Hinamizawans for helping Polaris. Keitarou accepts it and says they'll come help at any time, and everyone begins heading back to the Watanagashi Festival. Inori thanks Keitarou as well. Marutake, who was watching from afar in some bushes, laments that there was a stalemate and that the Sonozaki Group is no longer getting involved. He's still unwilling to give up and has plans to give what he has to a publisher to get revenge.
