This article is about a story arc in Ciconia When They Cry. |
---|
For You, the Replaceable Ones (代わりのいる君たちへ Kawari no iru kimitachi e) is the first story arc in the Ciconia When They Cry series. It was released worldwide on October 4, 2019, the same day Umineko no Naku Koro ni Saku was released.
The current official policy is that video streamers and uploaders are only permitted to upload up till the end of Chapter 14 (out of 25) and the data fragments included in the demo. This is reflected in an in-game notice and was last updated on April 30, 2020 in the third demo release.
Introduction[]
Thank you for waiting so long for us to prepare.
Now, I will finally start up the game. However, are you sure about this?
This is merely my personal opinion, but I believe the difficulty level is quite high, given the present circumstances.
Still, I am well aware that you know the joy of achieving victory, especially over conditions such as that. This is a considerably high tier of difficulty, after all.
Your opponent is already fully prepared.
Release History[]
Demo 1
The first demo of Phase 1 was released on September 4, 2019 in order to test the game's engine. It was available as separate Japanese and English digital versions[1]. The first demo covered the prologue of the game and part of Chapter 1, up till the James F. Kennedy quote.
Demo 2
The second demo was released on September 27, 2019[2]. It included the same main story contents as Demo 1 as well as two additional Data Fragments, "Regarding Selcoms" and "The Okonogi Crappy Collage Grand Prix". This version of the game included Japanese-English language switching capabilities. All content was available upon boot-up.
Original Release
Phase 1 was first released on October 4, 2019. A Japanese-only physical version was distributed in Japanese retail stores, while a digital bilingual English and Japanese version was available on MangaGamer and Steam[3][4]. Unlike in Demo 2, the Data Fragments were only available after the completion of the main story.
Patch 1
A patch for both versions of the game was released on November 10, 2019[5]. Most notably, Maricarmen's nickname was changed from Marica to Mari, and Gunhild's sister had her name changed from Maya to Maja. Several other improvements were made to the script for clarity, and English titles were added to Japanese track names in the Music Room. The patch also fixed several image issues such as inconsistent application of backgrounds to the characters' headshots on the character profiles page.
Demo 3 (Version 1.01)
A third demo was released on April 30, 2020 on the official Ciconia website[6]. It is not available on Steam. The new demo covers up to Chapter 14 of the story, with data fragments 1, 3, 5, 6, and 10 unlocked afterwards. This excludes data fragment 2, which was previously included in Demo 2. The streaming restriction policy has been updated along with this to include all the content within this new demo.
Reception[]
Both Phase 1 and Umineko Saku completely sold out in some stores on release day.[7]
