The 1st Umineko Pairing Poll (「うみねこのなく頃に」第１回ベストコンビ投票 "Umineko no Naku Koro ni" dai 1-kai besuto konbi tōhyō, lit. "Umineko no Naku Koro ni" Best Combi Poll) was held from October 25 to October 29, 2007, one month after the release of Legend of the Golden Witch. Voters could cast one vote for a character pair per day. They were also able to nominate their own characters for one or both members of a pair. Character entries that do not have a portrait are marked with an asterisk in the results table below.

- Several of the pairings are references to Higurashi When They Cry:
- Minon and Shinon (23rd place) reference Mion Sonozaki and Shion Sonozaki.
- The Bernkastel and Akasaka pairing (21st place) references Bernkastel bearing a strong resemblance to Rika Furude, who was often paired with Mamoru Akasaka in Higurashi polls.
- The Lambdadelta and Tomitake pairing (40th place) could be referencing Lambdadelta's name meaning 34 in Greek, which is similar to Miyo Takano's first name being 34 in Japanese; Takano was Jirou Tomitake's acquaintance.
