Story[]
Ange finishes defeating some tsukuyami at the Furude Shrine grounds, wondering what even is this world she’s ended up in, full of magic and cards. Ange begins to get light-headed and is saved by Kazuho, Miyuki, and Nao from falling into a gorge. The girls assume Ange is also a hot springs customer and say they came over when they heard tsukuyami noises. Ange begins to collapse from exhaustion, and the girls bring her to the Irie Clinic.
Ange wakes up the next morning inside a clinic bed and being tended to by the girls. They slept over at the clinic, wanting to make sure Ange was alright. They then ask what it was Ange saw at the shrine grounds last night, as Ange said she was fighting monsters. Ange says it’s exactly what she said, and that she knows the girls fight them too. After a moment of silence, the girls ask her to keep quiet about it, as it may be a problem for the hot springs district if the tsukuyami’s existence spread outside of Hinamizawa. Ange says it’s okay, as nothing she does in this world, let alone her own existence in it, matters anyway. The girls are confused as to what she means. Ange says she isn’t from this world, and Kazuho says she’s just like them, then.
Ange learns about Kazuho, Miyuki, and Nao’s circumstances. Ange says she plans to figure out how to get back to her own world. Just then, Battler and Jessica show up and greet the girls. Ange is shocked by their appearance. Battler and Jessica don’t recognize Ange, but they wonder why she’s wearing a One-Winged Eagle armband and is wearing the Head’s Ring too. Ange quickly explains that they’re prototype souvenir items for the Ushiromiya family resort, and Battler accepts it. Battler and Jessica say they came to the clinic to thank Irie in person after getting his help with hot springs duties. Ange is still speechless, and Battler and Jessica apologize for the armband talk since Kinzo doesn’t allow the family symbol to be worn so casually. Battler is still concerned about the Head’s Ring and feels like he’s seen Ange somewhere before. He asks for her name, but Ange opts to leave instead. The girls chide Battler for trying to flirt with her, but Battler insists she looks just like his 6-year-old sister. Battler wonders if they should let her go since she looked sad, and Kazuho goes off to check on her.
Ange starts crying outside the clinic. Kazuho goes up to her and asks if she has some kind of connection to Battler, having seen the looks of happiness and then sadness Ange had upon seeing him, and that she’s seen it before in her own friends: her friends have met people they desperately wanted to see but can’t convey their feelings properly. Kazuho can tell how pained they are, and she can relate since she’s also lost her family. Kazuho and Ange properly introduce themselves, and Ange explains she really is Battler’s sister. 12 years ago from Ange’s perspective, Battler and Jessica died in the Rokkenjima incident in 1986. Ange followed their tracks to learn what really happened and ended up going to Hinamizawa. Kazuho worries since it’ll happen in 3 years and so they need to tell them, but Ange stops her. They can’t let Battler know Ange’s name either, as that’s the rule imposed on her that will allow her to save him. Ange considers it a miracle that she can even see Battler and Jessica in good health here.
Kazuho says she still has the chance to save them, and Ange asks Kazuho what she plans to do with her experiences in this world: if Kazuho wanted to save someone important and learn the truth, and was feeling ambivalent, then which one would she pick? Ange wants to find the truth about what happened in October 1986, and so she’ll follow that rule. Ange is okay with it since this is a Fragment even the Witch of Miracles couldn’t find. Kazuho asks what she means by “witch”, and Ange says to ignore it.
Ange thanks Kazuho for talking to her, feeling like she understands this world a little more. Ange is about to explain why she’s arrived here when Battler and the rest of the girls interrupt them. Battler apologizes for the way he treated Ange and then asks for her name; Ange says “Gretel” in response. Battler jokes that he should be called Hansel then, and gives his real name. Battler invites her to eat with the group, and Ange accepts. Kazuho believes Ange’s reason for coming here is just to talk to her brother.
