Story[]

Part 1

Lambdadelta appears out of nowhere in the middle of Mion's messed up room. She had made a promise of certain will, so the Witch of Certainty, Lambdadelta, was there to guarantee her absolute certainty! Minutes before, Mion was going cards and broken dice. Fair player was for losers. She had to do anything to secure her victory. She'll certainly win. And so Lambda popped up. She came her to praise and assure Mion that her will to win the upcoming club game will pay off! Mion comments that Lambda talks rather oddly... Lambda pushes that aside and wonders how many club games Mion is preparing to win - Mion goes on about how anything that can be competitive can be a club activity in their club, so she needs to be ready for everything.

Mion was preparing a diagonally cut card that could be turned into an Ace or a Joker. Lambda wondered if it wouldn't be bad if the real card was in play, but Mion's real worry would be if her opponent had the real card. After all, cheating is allowed, you can't be found out. That both defeats your play and would make people more suspicious of other moves. Then Lambda finally understood. There was no set game for tomorrow, so Mion was preparing for literally everything, which is why her room was super messy. Lambda is curious, what is this game that Mion certainly can't lose?

The previous day Shion came to the club with tickets for a new special service in Okinomiya. Uncle Hiroshi was preparing a new service where couples could take pictures in wedding costumes and have dinner in a fancy restaurant. It was both supposed to be a cheaper alternative to western marriage and also just something for teens wanting a colorful date. She had gotten two free tickets for the club, one male and one female, and since Keiichi was the only boy there, of course, he got one. So, whoever got the female one would get to go to the event with him. Lambda is actually burning up after hearing the story. She promises Mion certain victory.

Part 2

Back during classes, Mion had denied any interest. She claimed that kind of thing doesn't fit her, and Rena would be better. Although since they'd decide with a club activity, Mion claims she doesn't want to lose. Rena wondered if Mion was really okay with that... Meanwhile, Mion promised herself she certainly had to win.

Usually, you'd expect a witch to use some big magical spell but the scene didn't change much after Lambda arrived. She just sit beside Mion and was working through the cheats with her, like pointing out flaws in a modified card and manual. Mion assumed she had prepared enough already, but Lambda seemed to assume the worst possibility could still happen. Still, through magic, Lambda restored some of the cards that had been destroyed during their modifications, just so Mion could try again, rather than magically giving her cheat cards. When Lambda first appeared, Mion thought she she was fickle, but actually, she seemed dedicated in uncompromising.

Mion thought that she was finished, but Lambda said that was a laughable definition of "certainty", still full of holes. Of course, she only had a single night to prepare her certainty, so it was flawed in the first place. Still, Lambda points out that as long as she has energy to go on, thanks to her magic, she will also have time.

Mion says Lambda is amazing, even though it's the first time she's participating in a club activity, Lambda feels like a veteran club member ho could be able to beat her. When Mion falls asleep, Lambda places a blanket on her.

Lambda herself lies down afterwards. In the past, she was driven by an absolute will to control destiny... but if she could live as a human again, rather than devoting herself to a certain will to bring about a certain destiny, she'd just like to enjoy a super happy life with the person she loves... Not as a piece, but as herself.

Part 3

Next day, in the Hinamizawa Branch School classroom, Satoko, Rika and Keiichi are cheering for the competition while Rena promises she'll take the ticket home. Lambda notes Keiichi is the source of Mion's certain will, but it's a good thing he isn't her type, otherwise Lambda would just steal him for herself. Only Mion can see Lambda while she floats around the club.

The first competition is a card game. Rena is immediately defeated. Satoko says Mion's will today is different from usual and even her would lose. Rika comments that it's almost like she's possessed. After losing many games, Rena says she might be a little happy Mion is so dedicated to this. But Lambda warns Mion that the power of will might bring about miracles in rare occasions that can even overturn a virtually perfect certainty.

Mion offers Rena a proposal - a final game. The winner takes everything, doesn't matter their win-loss record. And Rena would decide it. She goes with "Millionaire", a game based on the luck of the dice. But Mion had prepared everything. The roulette had been hidden, and she had prepared the dice. She just couldn't let Rena catch on to all that.

However, when Rena picked up the dice she wondered about it. Isn't this a dice that will never roll a 10? Only Mion and Lambda can hear her Rena's voice. Lambdadelta protests. She didn't even roll the dice. How could she figure out anything? Rena shows an uncharacteristic expression, looking straight at Lambda and calling her a stupid child, then Bernkastel appears from inside her. Bern claims she had seen Lambda having fun so she wanted to ruin her plans and a miracle can only come with the element of surprise.

Lambda whines about the cheating accusation about the dice, although Bern tells her to calm down. Rena would give the victory to Mion. Rena tells Mion she's happy Mion could put forth her honest feelings like that and would gladly give the victory to her. Mion tries to deny everything, but Lambda goes on about how if Mion thinks the happiness from today will just continue to tomorrow she will regret it bitterly in the future. She should work to make her happiness today. That's Lambda's secret for Certain Happiness.

As time started moving again for everyone else, Rena had just suddenly given up. Satoko comments that there must have been some great psychological battle they missed. Mion admits that in spite of being the club leader she acts childishly, but she'll mature and grow from now on.

Following Bern around in the meta-world, Lambda complains about how she didn't know Bern was there, but Bern says she hid herself exactly because Lambda wouldn't bother playing with Mion if she knew she was there. Lambdadelta says Bernkastel is the witch she loves the most in the entire universe, her number 1. She promises her certainty won't let Bern get bored until the Big Crunch.
