Story[]

Part 1[]

Rika runs through the village from tsukuyami, carrying the Onigari-no-ryuuou with her. She thinks this nightmare must have started when she found it. Rika trips and the monsters catch up and surround her. Rika figures she must be the only one left alive in the village and decides to fight back, swinging at the tsukuyami with her sword. Rika swears not to let everyone's deaths be in vain and won't die herself without figuring out what's going on, throwing herself into battle.

Part 2[]

Rika wakes up in cold sweat, wondering what that nightmare she just had was. She looks around at her shack and is confused as to why Satoko and her futon aren't there, but she remembers why: Satoshi's returned home. After Takano's arrest, Irie helped cure Satoshi and woke him up, and Satoko was spending the night with him at the Houjou residence. A flashback occurs to the clinic, where Satoko asks if Rika will really be okay sleeping by herself that night. Rika says it's fine as she doesn't want to interrupt the family reunion. Satoshi says they have room for Rika to stay over but she insists otherwise. Rika says she had other things to do, thinking about how she found the Onigari-no-ryuuou while cleaning out the saiguden. Furude family documents say the sword was thrown into Onigafuchi after the demon's defeat to seal it, yet she found it like this; either the lore was wrong or something else is up.

Rika sees it's past midnight and wonders how the Houjous are doing. She feels saddened since Satoko is her best friend yet they might not be living together anymore. Rika thinks she'll get used to it eventually and begins to change her clothes, but she gets disturbed by how very silent it is. The frogs and insects that should be croaking and chirping at this time couldn't be heard at all. Rika gets dressed and looks at the beautiful moon outside, deciding to go for a walk. She wonders if it'll be safe but this is September of 1983, so the curse should be over. Rika gets a bad feeling about the Houjous and decides to go to their house, thinking they'll just laugh at her if her worries are unfounded.

Part 3[]

Rika brings a flashlight to the Houjou residence and finds Satoko's corpse lying in a pool of blood and a giant hole in her chest. All of Rika's other friends are dead nearby too, and tsukuyami suddenly appear. Rika despairs at her friends dying despite them claiming their happy future, and the Onigari-no-ryuuou manifests in front of her. Rika grabs the sword without a second thought and jumps in to kill the monsters.

Rika wakes up again, this time in school with her friends. Rika asks what day it is and Rena says it's the middle of June, still awaiting the Watanagashi. Rika goes back to sleep and ponders. She has no idea what happens but she knows she's repeating June again despite having beaten it before. Rika is confident she'll be able to do it again with everyone's help.

An unknown narrator giggles, saying that it's really a tragedy that Rika has gained her happy ending but had it taken away again. But the true tragedy is that this Rika has experienced similar things over and over again but doesn't realize it; she crosses past June 1983, is killed by monsters, and sent back again, but somehow she can't remember it, even though she's Rika Furude.

The narrator addresses another person and asks what they feel about these Fragments. They compare the situation to a drug. A drug is useless if given to someone who is already dead, so before Rika could give up, she received a powerful drug to keep her going. This is the true nature of these fragments. These fragments couldn't even be called fragments anymore, but just dust-like possibilities. Mysterious "clusters" that barely hold together as fragments, they're distorted and there are gaps, which is why they have strange events within them. But Rika continues to exist in these fragments due to the drug she received. The narrator says this drug might eventually kill Rika's existence however, and then asks the other one when they will reveal themselves. The narrator says they were aware of the other's existence for quite some time and asks if they're angry. They cackle again and say that future humans are coming, and they could only be described as powerful drugs.
