Story[]
Part 1[]
Reina's mother suddenly calls her to a meeting at Angel Mort. The place looks empty compared to last year. It seems like the upcoming dam construction was affecting even the surrounding towns. Reina's mother reveals she is planning to move to Tokyo. They previously were thinking about Ibaraki, close to Reina's grandmother who loves her, but apparently her plans changed. Reina's mother has been scouted by a large company. It is fairly new, but is already famous for designer clothing for celebrities and models. However, it is just Reina's mother who makes it to the company. In the last few months, ever since it is known they'd be leaving Hinamizawa she had been working to find a new job. She was rejected many times, but finally something had worked out and her talent, no, her effort was acknowledged.
However... Reina's father has nothing. In fact, they had a fight recently and this was probably tied to that. Unlike Reina's mother who was incessantly looking for jobs, after a particularly harsh rejection her father had decided to take a break. They had the upcoming dam money so there was no need to rush. He returned home drinking another day, and this time had left home since morning, although he claimed he was visiting a friend's company. It feels like he has an inferiority complex for his own wife, ashamed of himself for being unable to stand on her level.
Rena pretends to keep a smile and be excited for the move, but somehow she fears her happiness is about to fall apart.
Part 2[]
Returning from Okinomiya another day, Reina by pure coincidence glances at someone in an alleyway who looks like her father hugging an unknown young woman as they entered a building, "The Blue Mermaid". Back in the branch school, Mion tells Reina the Blue Mermaid is a cabaret club affiliated with the Sonozaki Group, seemingly annoyed at the irritation Reina showed. Reina realizes her father was just playing around in spite of claiming to be after work. Her parents fought more day by day as time passes.
Reina tells Mion she is sorry for what happened earlier. She understands it's just a normal establishment and it's not her fault, although Mion feels guilty about it too. They are interrupted by Nao and Miyuki, two recent transfer students. Mion really doesn't like them and soon leaves. Nao wonders where Reina is moving to. Nao also tells Reina if she has any problems, she can count on her. Reina remembers her mother's words - it's meaningless if someone else does it, if she has problems, she has to solve things herself. Nao comments her mother says the same thing.
Reina's father talks with her when she returns home. He knows she doesn't want to move far away from Hinamizawa. He also has a wonderful friend he wants to introduce to her. Reina asks him to introduce this wonderful friend when mom is home too. He immediately drops the matter. Something black wrapped itself around Reina's neck, whispering on her ear "I have to work hard to solve my own problems".
Part 3[]
Keiichi confronts Reina near the village's lookout. Keiichi is an outsider who came to Hinamizawa a little before Nao and Miyuki. He had seen Reina burying the corpses on the forest. She thought if she avoided the construction site soon no one would find the bodies due to the dam. She initially didn't plan to kill Rina though, who attacked her after she rejected her, but she did plan to kill her partner afterwards from the start. Somehow, Keiichi knows about the entire Rina scenario and argues that it isn't Reina's fault. He promises to keep silence about all this. It'd all disappear as the past.
The black creature wraps itself around Reina's body. It appeared after she saw Rina for the first time, and only grew more and more afterwards, like it was feeding on Reina's sins. Reina loves her mother, but she also understands her father's feelings now. Her mother is someone who can always work hard to surpass any obstacle, but other people can't. Not her father, not her who had to resort to murder, ruining her own life.
Keiichi yells that Reina's mother isn't perfect, even if she believes there's nothing missing in her, she can take the wrong path. In the same way, Reina can take the correct path if she just doesn't burden herself alone. The black mass wraps around Reina's body, then both jump from the cliff, leaving Keiichi behind.
